Gregory Street Kitchen
2001 Custom Kitchen
My friend on Gregory Street had a fairly large but dated kitchen. She had spent quite some time reviewing examples of kitchen ideas that would be fitting for her Marblehead Victorian style home. She wanted to retain the existing wood stove and create a warm space for family enjoyment and entertaining friends. We spent a great deal of time creating and drawing 6 different designs and eventually chose this custom kitchen design.
After looking at several factory designed cabinets, we decided to design each piece and have our design made locally by JD Custom Woodworking in Peabody using quarter sawn Red Oak which was popular in the Victorian era. I felt strongly about the inclusion of an island, so I mocked up one in cardboard “actual size” and put in place for my client to experience. The resulting custom island includes several useful attributes.
